4. Vaucluse Aventures Evasion The French Vaucluse Aventures Evasions team for this February’s Patagonian Expedition Race includes a healthy mix of seasoned competitors and new blood. Jerome Berruer, the team’s captain, competed in the 2012 edition. Despite suffering from a swollen head and feet and being forced to withdraw at checkpoint 17, he’s back for more. His teammate for 2016, Pascal Reymond, competed with the Vaucluse team in 2011. In that effort, the team came in third, wowed along the away by circling condors and tricky peat bogs. Reymond and Berruer are joined this year by Jean-Michel Carteau, who brings four years of experience competing in the Transmorocaine, as well as Corinne Bonnet, who’s finished the Boliviana 2015 as well as many adventure races in France.
Berruer, in his application form, emphasized the joys of returning to a race. “We have now many friends in Punta Arenas,” he said, “…we will be very happy to meet back them and the ‘PER family’ for a beautiful wild and human Adventure Race, probably the most wild race in the world!”
