PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE 2005

February 19

7:50 hrs Team LA CLUSAZ RAID AVENTURE begins the final trail to PC8 Brunswick towards the sea.

9:00 hrs Team SALOMON RUSSIA begins their ascent to the Cross of seas.

10:10 hrs Team MENETUE-OPTIMUM NUTRITION is coming down from the cordillera will enter the narrow Rio Oro valley. This is approximately 17 kilometers before PC8.

11:00 hrs The Russian team has begun the last stretch of the PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE 2005, 25 kilometers of kayak stage separates them from the finish line at San Isidro. They are expected to arrive past midday.

12:20 hrs The American team FUKAWI was checked in good conditions a few kilometers before PC8 Brunswick.

12:35 hrs Teams GLOBALSTAR CHILE and LE GROUP IBEROAMERICA Argentina were checked at 17 Kilometers from PC8 in good conditions.

12:40 hrs Canadian team THE KING`S OWN CALGARY REGIMENT is delayed due to a racer's minor knee injury. They still hope for a place on the podium.

14:21 hrs Team SOLOMON RUSSIA arrived at the finish line at San Isidro. They were disqualified from PC3, so finish ranked, but they have shown an amazing speed and strength in the PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE 2005.... From the end of the world, a huge hug to this young team!

16:40 hrs Teams FUKAWI and THE KING 'S OWN CALGARY REGIMENT have passed PC8.

20:30 hrs Teams GLOBALSTAR CHILE and LE GROUP IBEROAMERICA are 8 Km far away from PC8. They are still navigating together.

22:10 hrs Team LA CLUSAZ RAID AVENTURE has arrived at PC9. They will rest tonight and at first light will try to finish the kayak stage to the finish line at San Isidro.

The racers, the organization and journalists will be comfortably lodged at the Hosteria San Isidro lighthouse, expecting the arrival of the rest of the teams.

February 20

Team MENETUE - OPTIMUM NUTRITION left PC8 at first light this morning.
Meanwhile the expected winners, team LA CLUSAZ RAID AVENTURE, are right now rowing to the finish line at San Isidro. They are expected to arrive in a few hours.

11:08 hrs the Canadian team THE KING 'S OWN CALGARY REGIMENT has left PC9 and is on the way to the transition to the kayak stage.

12:33 hrs Victory! Team LA CLUSAZ RAID AVENTURE has arrived to the finish line at San Isidro. It was an emotional victory among the warm applause from the organization, spectators (including relatives of racers who traveled from other countries) and the rest of the racers (disqualified teams) at San Isidro.

13:40 hrs Team THE KING`S OWN CALGARY REGIMENT are rowing the last course to the finish line.

14:45 hrs Team FUKAWI takes to the water toward the finish.

From PC8 Brunswick: Teams GLOBALSTAR CHILE and LE GROUP IBEROAMERICA were disqualified. They will travel with the organization personnel, they are supposed to arrive at the Hostería San Isidro tomorrow.

18:18 hrs Canadian tem THE KING`S OWN CALGARY REGIMENT has arrived at San Isidro... Congratulations to this young team, you did it! Very good race!

19:28 hrs American team FUKAWI has arrived at San Isidro... Congratulations to this team, you did it! Very good race!

21:30 Hrs. Teams LA CLUSAZ RAID AVENTURE and SALOMON RUSSIA are enjoying a dinner at Carl III island in the facilities of Whalesound, at Marino Francisco Coloane National Park. They have a spectacular view of whales that use this natural passage to the Pacific Ocean. They will stay for two nigths and then will travel back to Punta Arenas to join all the racers at the staff house.

February 21

Early in the morning two members of Team Le Group Iberoamerica; Nora Acuña and Gerardo de Vita; arrived at Punta Arenas with foot injuries. They are now fine and have been released from the hospital. The were evacuated from was done from the Rio Nodales's drainage, 8 Kilometers NE from Cabo Froward, thanks to the collaboration of the Chilean Naval Fleet. The other members of teams GLOBALSTAR CHILE and LE GROUP IBEROAMERICA, journalists and personnel of the organization were included in this same transport.

13:27 hrs The final team in competition MENETUE- OPTMUM NUTRITION, has arrived to the finish line. They were tranported with the organization boat the last 7 kilometers due to bad climatic conditions. Well done guys, you've done it!!

18:00hrs. The organization is transporting the teams, journalists and race staff from Hostería San Isidro to Punta Arenas City.
