We need your vote for a WCS project The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) tries to win a Disney competition to develop a unique project in the Chilean Patagonia region. An education project run by the WCS, which aims to teach the local community about the importance of green energy, has been selected as one of three projects to be given support from Disney’s ‘Amigos por el Mundo: proyecto verde’ but the more votes it gets the more backing it will receive. Run in the community living in the Tierra del Fuego town of Cameron, the project aims to harness wind energy and, through dedicated educational projects, teach the inhabitants of one of the world’s windiest places how important new green, clean energy is to the protection of their own environment and the world around them. “This project will help the local communities learn how important their environment is, and how it is possible to generate energy from green resources,” said Wildlife Conservation Society Chilean director Barbara Saavedra. “We are hoping the Disney support will help to strengthen what is already going to be a substantial project.” This ongoing project will see children in the community’s schools build and monitor their own wind turbines that will provide them with power throughout the year - and measure exactly how much energy they have saved in the process. Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race Director Stjepan Pavicic added: “We have a lot of fans and supporters of the race and we believe many of them have strong support for environmental causes. We have passed through Karukinka, the conservation area of WCS in Tierra del Fuego, for many years and we hope that we can direct some of the race’s supporters to the Disney site to give their support for this excellent cause.” So please take the simple step and cast your vote. Just go to: http://disneylatino.com/amigosporelmundo/ and click ‘Votar Ahora’ on Vientos de cambio desede la Patagonia’. Patagonia will appreciate it! Thank you very much! |

I have to say the race was just incredible this year and you and the staff should be very proud for having put together one of the world's most impressive races… Once again it was an unforgettable experience... The race continues to be one of the most exciting assignments of my career and I hope that I will be able to come back next year again.
