Rooted in Adventure
Professional geologist Stjepan Pavicic always harboured a love of the outdoors, preferring the never traveled, the unmapped, the unseen, and the unknown. Having seen a flyer promising expedition and adventure in the wild, he instantly decided to participate in a local expedition race. Although enjoying the experience, Stjepan found himself in controlled environments, forced to avoid cars and picnickers. This was not the adventure he was seeking.
The experience cemented in his mind the notion he had held for over twenty years that his homeland of southern Patagonia could host one of the last truly remote and wild adventures possible on planet Earth. Such a race would serve as a vehicle to foster public awareness, which becomes more important with each passing day as unsustainable industries delve deeper into Patagonia and desecrate the environment.
Stjepan was not alone in his love of southern Patagonia and the adventure it affords, and in 2002 he started the long journey of manifesting his shared dream alongside an international team of people with a broad range of experience in outdoor adventure and international project management. Collectively they have had expeditions and worked in Asia, Europe, South America, North America, Australia and even Antarctica and the Arctic. This remarkable team of visionaries creates the distinctive personality and spirit that characterizes the event.
It has been a long journey, but what was once a dream is now reality. The WENGER PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE®, the adventure at the end of the world, is the most remote and wild race on the planet. Every year the race receives vast amounts of international press and is awakening the world to the urgent need for conservation in southern Patagonia.

Nómadas Outdoor Services is the company created to direct and coordinate all aspects of this international sporting event. Besides organizing and executing the WENGER PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE®, the non-profit organization offers additional services related to its exceptional location in Patagonia; including consultancy, logistical support management, as well as exclusive trips for corporate and VIP tourists – all tailor-made ventures following the “Nómadas Outdoor Ethics”. These have been praised by clients such as the Wildlife Conservation Society, National Geographic Television, Chilean Ministry of Agriculture and Tourism Authorities, as well as Henry Paulson (former U.S. Treasury Secretary and member of the International Monetary Fund).
Branching out in 2008, a separate company called Nomadas Outdoor School was created. The ISO 9001 certified school aims to further open the doors to the natural world by offering educational courses that foster knowledge of the environment as well as teaching skills for exploration and adventure.
